More than 250 local business leaders, elected officials and hospitality professionals gathered to celebrate the holiday and a year of good cheer at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond. Each year, at the holiday reception, the South Shore CVA honors outstanding individuals and businesses that represent the hospitality industry and help further the tourism industry along the South Shore. This year marked the 34th annual celebration.
For most of us, recycling is only a brief thought as we throw items away throughout the day. Some keep a recycling bin for papers and cans, but most of us, even if we do try to recycle, don’t know the specifics of what can or can’t be recycled.
However, for Oliva Sanders, the Marketing Coordinator for METRO Recycling, recycling is what is foremost on her mind. It’s her job to get the word out about it and educate the rest of us on how and what to recycle.
Olga Vicari, formerly Olga Maric, has only been with Muller Acura in Merrillville since March, but has already been promoted to Sales Manager as of last month. This acceleration is arguably due to her extensive experience in the industry, having been in the car business since 1993. As for how she got in the car business, Vicari has a story that is atypical for the industry.

Spring Mill Health Campus and Lincolnshire Health and Rehabilitation Center hosted on Thursday night a Murder Mystery full of food, drinks, networking, and music. The Spring Mill and Lincolnshire-hosted party had a 1920’s gangster theme, which involved every guest, encouraging them to participate and play a special role in solving the whodunnit-style mystery.
