Community Healthcare Partners ACO, Inc. has announced participation in the Medicare Shared Saving Program (MSSP) as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO). Community Healthcare Partners ACO or CHP ACO is the clinically integrated provider network that unites more than 700 independent and employed physicians and other providers with Community Healthcare System’s hospitals: Community Hospital, Munster, St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago and St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart.

Living a philosophy of “man’s best friend also can be a healer,” Franciscan Health Crown Point celebrated the second anniversary of its Pet Therapy program recently, with a gathering in the hospital’s Marian Education Center that was attended by most of the team members and their canines. The program has brought relief and pleasure to hundreds of patients and their families throughout the hospital since its inception, thanks to the two-year effort of coordinator Julie Canady, an administrative assistant in the Franciscan Health Marketing Department. Six dogs initially joined the effort, which now has 27 canines, along with owners and other members.

An expert team of heart specialists at Porter Regional Hospital is now offering some patients the option of having aortic heart valve replacement without undergoing open heart surgery – a significant advancement in heart care in Northwest Indiana.
Working to further improve stroke care and patient recovery in Northwest Indiana, the hospitals of Community Healthcare System have partnered with Rush Medical Center’s TeleStroke Network. The network utilizes telemedicine to bring board-certified vascular neurologists from Rush to the patient’s bedside within minutes for stroke assessment through a mobile video robotic system. The TeleStroke technology is currently being used 24/7 365 days per year, to expand treatment options for ischemic stroke patients arriving to emergency departments of Community Hospital, St. Catherine Hospital and St. Mary Medical Center.
The Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center and the women who choose to use their facilities can continue to rejoice over their wonderful care. The facility was recently granted the Women’s Choice Award for Breast Care Centers, continuing their reign of excellence in the breast care arena.

This partnership includes more than 60 primary care physicians and specialists, and brings the local care of trusted providers to Ambetter members in Northwest Indiana.
